FAQ

Your questions about the windows inspection.

Does a window water leak fall under ten-year liability?
Yes, if it compromises the sealing of the property and appears within 10 years of reception. The expert report qualifying the workmanship defect is the centrepiece of the ten-year liability recourse.
How to test window airtightness?
Via smoke or air permeability test. We use a smoke generator to visualise leaks from inside. For water-tightness defects, a hydraulic pressure test can be added.
My PVC windows warp in the sun — is this normal?
No beyond 2 or 3 mm on the diagonal. Excessive warping reveals under-reinforced PVC or poor exposure. It is a product defect falling under manufacturer warranty or ten-year liability depending on the case.
How much does full window replacement cost?
From €600 to €1,800 per window installed, depending on dimensions, material and performance. Our report provides a precise quantified estimate per item, usable in insurance or before a court.
What documents to prepare before the visit?
Carpenter invoices, window technical sheets, ten-year liability certificate, reception minutes, prior photos if any. The better documented the file, the more precise the diagnosis.
Are you independent from carpenters and manufacturers?
Strictly. We refuse any case where we have a commercial relationship with the contractor, manufacturer or opposing expert. Our mandate comes exclusively from the owner.
