For whom

A framework inspection calibrated for four situations.

01

New-build owner

Deflecting or undersized framework within 10 years of reception. Ten-year qualification, identification of the responsible party (carpenter, design office) and recourse.

02

Existing-build owner

Suspected infestation (longhorn beetle, woodworm, dry rot) or structural weakness. Full diagnosis, affected species identification and treatment plan.

03

Pre-purchase buyer

Suspect attic during a viewing. Rapid opinion to estimate solidity, negotiate the price or set a suspensive condition before signing.

04

Owner in dispute

Disagreement with carpenter or architect after a defect. Drafting of an enforceable report, basis for amicable or judicial proceedings.

Our method

Five steps from survey to enforceable report.

Comprehensive attic inspection methodology: geometric survey, section check, joint control, infestation search and structural qualification. Compliant with current NIT-CSTC standards.

  1. 01
    Phone briefing
Preliminary exchange: building age, framework type (traditional or industrial), works history, warning signs (creaks, deflection, sawdust).
  2. 02
    On-site inspection
2-3 hour visit with geometric section survey, joint control, sounding of suspect timber and infestation search by raking light.
  3. 03
    Differential diagnosis
Qualification: undersizing, joint defect, active deflection, xylophagous insect attack, dry rot, or simple ageing to treat.
  4. 04
    Report drafting
15-25 page document with located HD photos, measurements, legal qualification, NIT-CSTC references and quantified reinforcement or treatment recommendations.
  5. 05
    Recourse follow-up if needed
Letter templates to the contractor, insurer or ten-year liability insurer. Coordination with partner lawyer if legal action. Gauge monitoring if active deflection.

Testimonials

They entrusted us with their framework diagnosis.

★★★★★
« Visible deflection 5 years after construction. The carpenter played it down. The report quantified the undersizing and activated ten-year liability. Reinforcements covered. »
★★★★★
« Suspect sawdust in the attic of an old house. Clear diagnosis: active longhorn beetle. Curative treatment launched before aggravation. Costs kept in check. »
★★★★★
« 1972 house visited before purchase. Concerning attic. Flash report in 6 days. Framework to redo for €38,000. Purchase price revised downward. »
FAQ

Your questions about the framework inspection.

How to recognise xylophagous insect attack?
Round exit holes (woodworm, around 2 mm) or oval ones (longhorn beetle, up to 10 mm), fine sawdust on the ground, galleries visible on cutting. An inspection sets a differential diagnosis and qualifies the activity (active or old).
Does dry rot fall under home insurance?
Sometimes, depending on the contract terms. A quick declaration with an expert report is essential. Dry rot is a wood-destroying fungus that can destroy a framework in a few years.
Is framework deflection always serious?
Not always. Slight deflection may fall within NIT-CSTC tolerances. Beyond admissible thresholds, however, it is a structural defect calling for rework. The span/section comparative calculation settles it.
Is an industrial (trussed) framework more fragile?
No, provided it is compliant and unaltered. A truss modified without a study (passing ducts, removing tie beams) becomes dangerous. Any modification must be validated by a design office.
How much does framework rework cost?
From €5,000 for a local reinforcement to €60,000 for a full strip-out. Our report provides a precise quantified estimate, usable in insurance or before a court.
Are you independent from carpenters and insurers?
Strictly. We refuse any case where we have a commercial relationship with the contractor, insurer or opposing expert. Our mandate comes exclusively from the owner.

Doubt about the state of your framework?

A weakened framework does not straighten by itself. Request a diagnosis — we come back to you during the day with an inspection slot.
