Your questions about the electrical inspection.
Must my installation be compliant with the current RGIE?
An existing installation must comply with the RGIE in force at the time of installation. Full compliance upgrade is only mandatory in case of sale or significant modification. An audit clearly identifies what falls under obligation versus advice.
Can a certified body report be contested?
Yes. A certified body report does not carry the force of a court ruling. A detailed counter-expertise report allows you to request a new visit or to take the matter to court in case of dispute with the body.
Does a major non-compliance fall under ten-year liability?
Yes, if it compromises the property's safety and appears within 10 years of reception. The expert report qualifying the workmanship defect is the centrepiece of the ten-year liability recourse.
How much does a full compliance upgrade cost?
From €3,000 for a simple panel to €25,000 for a total renovation (sections, circuits, earth). Our report provides a precise quantified estimate, usable in insurance or before a court.
What documents to prepare before the visit?
Last certified body report, single-line plans, electrician invoices, ten-year liability certificate, home insurance contract. The better documented the file, the more precise the diagnosis.
Are you independent from electricians and certified bodies?
Strictly. We refuse any case where we have a commercial relationship with the contractor, body or opposing expert. Our mandate comes exclusively from the owner.
